HR Maintenance Session
« on: May 04, 2016, 08:59:46 PM »
Just returned from the Holiday Rambler Maintenance Session in Goshen.  Learned a lot about our coach.  Must have been over 100 coaches in attendance including a half dozen Beavers.  Special thanks to Bart Mix who served as our mentor.  He also owns a 2003 Monterey.

We had our Hydro Hot serviced while we were there.  Diesel works fine, but there's a bug in the electric as we only get a few seconds of hot water out of it on electric.  Tech discovered an improper filter, a neglected relay update and a funky electric switch in the cabin.  The good news is that the suspected failure of the board did not materialize and that would have been a $400 investment.

Attended many of the educational sessions and they were first-rate.

Bottom line: This is a worthwhile event and we are likely to return next year.

This was our second time at the Maintenance Session and we plan to go again next year.  One thing that has impressed me both times is that their is no us/them attitude on the part of the HR people.  Jim Grossman, the coordinator for this year's session talked to me about the need to add Cat support next year, but I pointed out to him that there might be obstacles because of Cat's withdrawal from the on road market, and we talked about the potential interest a local dealer might have even if Cat itself did not want to participate.

The Cat people were here at the HR session last year and gave 2or 3 seminars. I wondered why they didn't show up this year.
Overall, even without the Cat representation,it was a very worthy seminar and we will be back again.

Newbe here. Just purchased new to us '05 Beaver Monterey Ventura II. UNFORTUNATELY missed the HR Maintenance Session in Indiana. Plan to FT as of September '16. Is there anything as good offered between now and next May? We plan to attend Escapee 56 in VT in July.

I am not aware of anything like this, especially not anything that focuses on coaches so much like ours.

The session coordinator spoke to me about the need to get Cat expertise at the sessions, both because of the Beavers that attend but also because of some of the REV lines added to the mix.  The problem is that having abandoned the on road engine market, Cat has little interest in supporting the Maintenance Session or anything else related to RVs.  I suggested that he get in contact with the local Cat dealer, who might be more amenable because of the service opportunity.
