entry way awning
« on: May 06, 2017, 03:05:33 PM »
I pushed the extend button and nothing happened, haven't used the thing in quite a long time. The only thing I can find to identify the awning is the key switch.( One Touch 12 volt.) I was hoping someone had some information as to what model or style the awning is. Any and help would be greatly appreciated.

Joe,

Don't know if yours is the same as mine. Mine is the Carefree WZ050EA25WM. There is a 10 amp fuse in the bathroom under the circuit breaker panel. I just replaced the motor because the awning would not retract without assistance. Check the fuse first. The wires are behind the panel with the switch above the co-pilot's seat. With the switch depressed check for 12 vols DC.

Joe, I suggest the Over the Door (OtD) awning on your Beaver is made by Carefree. You'll find limited information on pages 705-706 of your Monterey manual. However more detailed information on Carefree door awning issues can be found on the iRV2.com website by searching "Carefree door awning".
Apparently if the awning has plastic end caps it is the Freedom model and if end caps are metal it is a Marquee model.
Operation and service manuals are available at the Carefree of Colorado website.
I'd be interested to hear/read what you find. Good luck.

GOOD MORNING! I had a similar problem. What happened to mine is the motor controlling these awnings are poorly designed to keep water out; therefore water gets into the motor and it ceases to function! I had mine replaced. I cannot recall what it cost. Call BCS.

For reference, it is likely a Carefree Marquee:    https://www.e-carefree.com/ecarefree30/ExplodedPartsViewController?productId=40

I ran into a Beaver owner with your same coach (as is mine) and he was able to find a replacement motor for his and did the job for about $200, he claimed. My motor was shot and my awning needed to be replaced. I paid for parts and labor at an RV repair shot for a new upgraded Carefree and the job cost me $1200!  Hope you have luck with the motor or fuse!

The larger awning use an auto window motor. If yours does also you can get it a NAPA, etc.

I was able to isolate the problem to a bad connection at the motor or a broken wire between the relay package and the motor. Mine has the external motor with terminals external to the housing for trouble shooting purposes. The 18 volt trick works great. Now to get the end cap off is the next trick, I'm lucky to the point it has been updated.
Thanks for all the help
