Over the Counter GE Convection/Microwave Oven (2003 vintage)
« on: August 09, 2017, 02:24:19 PM »
All,

The convection oven in our GE Convection/Microwave oven is not heating very well and it makes a clicking noise when used.  The microwave is working great.  Was wondering if anyone has been successful in repairing or is it best to just replace?

GE Model Number JCM1490BH01

I have reviewed the forum and some have used GE, Sharp and Samsung as replacements.
Would appreciate suggestions and comments concerning the various models.
Please include model/part numbers for comparison if available.

As always, thank you for the great support!

Michael,
Our RV came with a Sharp Microwave/convection oven. The unit failed shortly after we purchased RV.
I found a Sharp factory authorized repair facility in Portland,OR.  A circuit board was replaced at about $150 and it worked fine for about 6 years.  The microwave failed about a month ago although convection oven still worked. I decided to replace this time as the unit was 14 years old.
I purchased a GE Profile and installed myself.  Fairly easy install although I did need to install a piece of plywood against
back wall to accommodate the taller GE oven and lower mounting location of GE wall bracket.

Darrell,

Thanks for the information.  We are trying to decide whether to repair or replace.  I also read someplace where someone punched a hole in the side of the coach and vented the oven outside.  We really like that idea.

Heading out to look at new one's today but the jury is still out.
