Aqua hot fan switch
« on: November 16, 2017, 10:18:04 PM »
There is a resistor looking part behind the aqua hot heater fan switch that gets extremely hot when the fan is running. It is so hot I cannot touch my fingers without being burned.  It has typed on it 10W7§5J.  I do not have the correct symbol behind the seven, but I believe it is the ohm symbol.. Is this Normal to get extremely hot?

Fred,
I'm not familiar with the resistor you are referring to but utilizing a high wattage resistor to drop the voltage to a fan circuit so it will run a slower speeds is widely used. They will get hot.  I'm pretty sure this is normal for the AH.

Thanks Steve, it just seemed weird that you can’t even touch it without burning your finger.
