Another Tire Question
Jerry Emert:
Trying to get Toyo or Hankook tires in 275x70x22.5. Tire dealer tells me that Toyo or Hankook does not make them in that size anymore. Anyone know an alternative size for my 03 PT? Front axle was 12,400 last time I weighed. I do not want to go down to 14 ply. Any suggestions? Thanks
Jerry
Gary Merrifield:
Check out the Toyo M144 in 295/75-22.5 I think they are pretty close in diameter and easy to get

Jerry, did you see this post http://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/toyos-at-best-price-396606.html
Not sure how long your willing to wait - or if it's worth the hassle/risk to buy on-line then take to tire shop to have mounted.
But there may be some $ savings.
Joel Ashley:
Toyo doesn’t make a 270mm wide M144. https://www.toyotires.com/commercial/tire/pattern/m144-regional-to-urban-all-position-tire
Your 03 Patriot may be quite different than what I’d expect, but the best option is what most of our rigs use these days, the 295/80. But it’s 25mm wider and 80% of 295 is gonna be a higher sidewall too, by almost 34mm. Whether that is okay for your odometer and axle configuration is a question for someone like BCS in Bend or Henderson’s Lineup in Grants Pass, or a knowledgeable tire guy here. But check the ID plate on the streetside wall behind your drivers seat for the prescribed tire size in case for some reason your current ones are smaller.

Joel I had a short case of senior dyslexia! I meant 275X70! Sorry, I found the Toyos on the web site Mike directed me to above so that's a possibility.
Mike, as I recall you and I live in the same area. Where do you like to get tires? Dan Murphy directed me to a guy in Mims that seems good. If I buy online I will probably have them sent to him. Just wondering if "you have a guy?" First time buying tires for the beast and had no idea it would be this difficult. Should have known...lol.
Thanks all!
Jerry
