Does anyone know where the resistor block is located? I am fairly certain it is bad but don't know where it is.

I've seen ceramic resistors placed right at the fan speed switch before and would look there first. If not there they should be close by following the wire leads from the switch should locate them.

Ed,

Thanks for that.  With the help of a friend about a week ago I was able to verify that the switch is not the problem and he told me it was most likely a loose wire or the resistor block and I decided to wait until we get home next week.

So I thought I would try to find out where the resistor block is located by posting here.  While I was waiting for an answer on the forum I got curious and had another look at the connections at the fan which I can't clearly see but in feeling around I must have done something because now the fan works!

Paul,

Hopefully it was just a connection that you moved and reseated. If so that should be lasting. If not there is vibration with the fan operation and some wire connection either internal or external may have a problem due to that (broken wire or connector). Could be a poor wire crimp on the connector. Hopefully the gremlin is at bay for good. Enjoy the cool.
