Dometic 630515.321 Fan Motor Replacement
« on: August 29, 2022, 07:15:32 PM »
Good afternoon.  One of my roof mounted a/c units (Dometic 630515.321 Duo-Therm) has a faulty fan motor and I decided to replace the motor myself.  In preparation, I watched several YouTube videos on the subject, none of which addressed my particular model.  In pulling back the cover and trying to determine the strategy, I consistently run into roadblocks.  Has anyone ever replaced the fan motor on the same model unit and if so, can you describe the process either here or perhaps private message?  I also tried to find a servicing manual for this unit but to no avail.  Does anyone know if one exists and where I may get a copy?
FYI, the unit will not start by itself.  I replaced both capacitors but that did not help.  I noticed however, after turning the unit on, I can turn the fan motor shaft by hand very easily and the unit then brings it up to speed where it runs without a problem.  Once it shuts down, either via the auto mode or manually, it will not restart on its own.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Thanks Steve.  Very good info but unfortunately, nothing on replacement procedures for the fan motor.  I'll keep searching.

mark im not familiar with that model , is it one motor for both indoor air and condenser air .  (double shaft  motor )
if so that would complicate the install. you can still get it done but may need more tools.

Not sure which model you have but many of these coaches used the duo therm A/C where removing the motor is a pack a lunch job,  from this video you can also see how the evaporator coil is the most neglected maintenance item in most A/C units it wouldn't hurt to clean it while your there ( use spray on coil cleaner to avoid flooding the coach )
The job may require a good set of Allen wrenches to remove the fan but other than that a socket set and some screw drivers is all you need.

ThIs video  might be what your looking for.

Hope this helps
