« on: October 01, 2025, 06:16:50 AM »
I came across this sender/sensor on side of engine block (driver side of engine) not sure if its for water or oil?
Picture attached....Guess my picture is to big , it wont send
I did call Thomson CAT, they couldn't help for reason I don't know, something added for coach side? aqua hot eng. heater??
its right behind exhaust pipe coming down, midway up from bottom of block, not in head.

That appears to be a single wire analog oil pressure sending unit for an apology oil pressure gauge likely installed by the coach builder not the engine manufacturer.
These coaches often had two of those one for the dash gauge and the other for a gauge in the service panel.

Thank you Eric,
that makes total sense,Is the service panel the same as the Aladin system?
I will order that. I have the radiator and air cooler and fan out right now, good time to get it replaced, if I remember correctly OP showed up on service screen but not dash gauge.
I hoped to meet you and ask how you know these things.
again thank you!!

The Aladin system receives it's information from the engines ECM via a serial stream data buss.
The ECM will have a separate oil pressure sensor on a C13 it should be located just behind the oil filter and should have three wires running to a plug ,plugged into the engine wiring harness.

The dash oil pressure gauge is an analog gauge which receives it's information from an analog sending unit like the one you showed.
A single wire sending unit will be a variable grounding unit meaning that grounding the signal wire should peg the gauge to the gauge full range.
More ground more gauge reading no ground no reading.

If that makes any sense.

If your coach has two oil pressure gauges ( one in the dash and one in the rear service panel then it should also have two of those oil pressure sending units.

Hope this helps

Eric,
I understand all that you just said.
The part where you mention a rear service panel, if i have one its hidden pretty good cause I dont see it.
I have a guage in dash and a monitor screen which the Alladin is connected to, both at the driver seat.
I am not sure but I think that sender is for dash guage. (shes not running at the moment I am putting a recored radiator and new air coooler in)
Quite a project!
The dash guage wasnt working before, but the monitor was.
I will let you know if its working when I get her back up running.
Eric thank you very much for your time spent here.
