Replacing front draperies on 2001 Marquis

Where might I go to get replacement draperies for the front of my coach -- the area around the front windshield area, pleated, and on the power rail?  Mine are tattered a bit.

Anyone else replace theirs?

I suppose I would have to go to a drapery maker as these would seem to custom made.  They are not a standard length nor width.

We are out on our first trip in our new to us 1993 Beaver Contessa ,Yuma AZ to Columbia SC so I do not have all the names and phone # of the people that have helped us get this classic coach on the road but if you call Pattiy Pierce, formerly at the Beaver Service Center in Bend now owner of SunBum RV in Yuma Az 541 948 4544  she put me in touch with a lady named Elaine who made the drapes for the Beaver factory originally and she did a perfect job on our new front drapes. Patty and Rob did a lot of the Remodle/Restore work on our coach, since they both worked on these coaches when they were new until Bend production ended they are a great help with Beaver coaches.  Steve

Elaine at NRRV 541-316-1477. The drapes run $435.00 plus shipping.

Richard, did you get the new drapes?  I've spot cleaned ours over the years, but was also thinking of replacing them since they have gotten frayed by the velcro at the hold-back.

I talked with Elaine just the other day and she's sending me fabric samples.  I expect to be putting in an order shortly.  By the way, she doesn't have the green linen fabric that was original to my coach.  So, I'm picking out something else green-like -- perhaps sage -- a darker color.  I told her that I wanted the draperies to be as soft as what I've got now and hang straight.  I don't want anything stiff.  She's got to make them with the wiring sewn in for the electric rods to work right.

Elaine is shipping my new set of front draperies (electric) today.  Looking forward to checking off this from my wish list.

Just bit the bullet for MCD blinds to replace the front drapes and all of the other window coverings.  Now my 98 Contessa will look like a 2013 on the inside!  Power windshield day and night, manual day and night everywhere else.

Keith , tell me more about these Mcd blinds for the front windshield, do they come down from the top, where do you get them? I am over in Victoria , and the motor for my front blinds is missing.

Thanks

Dave

Dave:

I am in Palm Desert at the moment.  Owners of three other Motorhomes in this park have recently redone their curtains and/or drapes with MCD and one of them was talking it up to the point that I went aboard two of them to see what all the fuss was  about.  One had a failed curtain motor that was going to cost $900 to replace, so did the groundwork to find an alternative. The others have followed his lead.  The new coaches (I have seen new, 2014 Monaco with all MCD from the factory) have the same blinds everywhere.

There is a double roller, day shade above night shade, 98"wide, that covers the entire windshield.  It powers down, so you can operate it while driving.  The A pillar is modified to provide a positive light-proof edge, and it is wired to you existing dash switches, if you have them.  The drivers side is manual, but I can easily reach the bottom edge to pull it down while driving. The manual ones go up gently, and you can set the speed and height that they rise to.  The day shades effectively block visibility from outside and the night shades block all light.

Find the Manufacurer here: www.mcdinnovations.com.  I don't know if there is a dealer in or near Victoria, but you could email the factory to find out.  The guy here is full time in a Motorhome, presently at the Outdoor Resorts park in Indio, so he came over the morning after I called and did the sales job, measurements and estimate in about 1/2 hour.   He has promised two week delivery from the factory with installation within a few days thereafter.  I'll let you know when they are in and what I think about them then.

More costly than I was expecting, but no more than what I could find in Lowes or Home Depot, and better suited to the Motorhome than anything I could find there.

That sounds just like what I am looking for, for one thing; th automated front shades are great , but with the massive gaps they have on the sides and centre , the sun always finds its way in, and as a night shade, the the one piece horizontal unit looks so nice and clean. how much are these things?

What is the approximate cost of these shades per window/windshield?

They have a price list on their website http://www.mcdinnovations.com.  .  The prices I have been quoted are on the website as "American Duo".  Installation is where the local dealer makes his money, $750 for the cockpit, including A pillar modifications and putting in two switches, $600 for the rest of the coach.

So Keith, you're saying to have your coach completely re-done would be $1350?

That is the installation price. see the pricelist on the website for individual windows.  Fewer would reduce the $600 installation price.
Mine is more like $4500 all in.
