Soft Buzzer Please Help,
« on: February 10, 2014, 09:55:10 PM »
Larry and I took the coach to the CAT Dealer last night for a maintenance issue we had scheduled for this morning.  We decided to just leave the slides in since we would only be there for a short time.  When we got ready to leave the next morning Larry started the engine before retracting the jacks.  He quickly turned it back off and went to retract however the automatic retraction would not start so he manually retracted them.  The coach then went back to leveling the coach.  He tried once again to retract with no success.  After three attempts we decided to drive the couple if hundred yards into the dealership.  We had a very soft buzzing sound coming from the left side of the drivers seat.  After all maintenance was completed Larry went to come home started up the coach and we still had the soft buzzer going off.  The dealership said the hydraulic fluid was fine.  Could this be due to leveling the coach without putting out the slides or possibly starting the coach before bringing in the jacks?  Any other ideas?

We've done that.  Sysstem seems to need to reset fully one time and then start from scratch to fully level and then to fully road ready.  It's like the computer controler gets a glitch.
Also, you should be able to level without extending the slides.  Ours is level now and the slides are in.

Larry,

You may want to identify what kind of leveling system you have so that others with the same system can help. I think it is the SMC hydraulic system that has rams that are over the axles that do not go to the ground. If that is the case, the faint buzzer (which my wife can hear from the passenger seat and I cannot hear in the drivers seat :-) indicates that the jacks are not all up. If you hold down the manual retract the buzzer should quit after all the jacks are up. Depending on how far they are extended at the time, it may take a bit of time for the jacks to fully retract. You may hear this alarm while driving also. As the fluids warm up while driving during the day there may be some expansion moving the cylinders down slightly. A brief activation of the manual retract button brings the cylinders back into the fully retracted position will shut off the alarm.

Later Ed

Larry, it is SOP to Start the engine with the slides out you need to be in travel mode before you bring the sides in. You would also extend the slides before you level your rig. If you are when parked close to level then you would normally be able to move the slides without any problem.
