2000 Marquis slides

Having figured out my switch was the problem I checked it out and it works fine. Since then the slides worked fine,till today!! Nothing,nada....so switching the ignition off and on I thought I might free some sticky interlock.........still nothing......by accident I left the ignition switched ON......eh voila.....the slide motor worked when I hit the switch.
So.....my question is........is this switch wired so the ignition has to Be ON to operate the slides , or do I have an issue with the ignition switch ?

Slides should be disabled when ignition switch is on.

Seems mine is wired so ignition has to be on. Maybe it is possible to reverse the connections at the relay?

Does the switch have to be in the acc. position to operate the slide? Mine does but I have a Monterey.

The slides only operate with ignition on.  I need to know if I can reverse this by changing the connections on the relay ?
I replaced the relay and it is possible I have mixed up the connections. I will check to see if the labelled connections on both relays are the same.

Per schematics, relay wiring should be as follows:

86: Gnd
85: Ignition power

30: Battery power
87: open
Unmarked pin: Slide switch power

If you have the Slide switch power wire on pin 87 the ignition will need to be on to operate the slide. If wired to the unmarked pin, ignition needs to be off.

Hello Steve,
Thank you for the schematic description.  I installed a new relay and it's possible pin 87 and the unmarked pin are reversed.  Even wired this way it is interesting to note that once I start the engine the slides are inoperable !!

There's probably another relay that senses engine start.

Well OK.  Not going to look for it as it works fine. Will reverse  87 and unmarked pin connectors and all should be well.
