Securing Bar Cabinet Doors
« on: April 06, 2015, 04:57:21 PM »
Our Marquis has a nice bar cabinet with glass doors that won't stay closed underway.  The little magnets that are supposed to hold them shut just don't cut it so any advice to improve this would be greatly appreciated.

Right now we're using a piece of masking tape but there much be a better way.

Thanks for any input on this matter,

Dick,
Sounds like you've either got an alignment problem between the magnet and the door plates or the magnet has gotten weak. Here is a replacement set on Amazon but you might be able to get them at Home Depot or Lowes. I'd try this before doing anything else.

Here is a link everyone should know about. It the Hardware Hut in Spokane, WA. It's got a large compliment of weird, hard to find hardware.

I found the "Ball Tension and Bullet" cabinet latch hardware that is in my 2001 Patriot here and supplies are really reasonable.

You may want to use this type of latch on your Bar cabinet doors as you can adjust the tension on the balls with a set screw on each side. They come in different finishes. All of mine are brass, so that's what I ordered. They ship orders anywhere.

Here's the link:
