Finally we can stop worrying about the Norcold catching fire,
I ordered the Samsung from Lowes in Eugene, Or. They shipped it to Amazing Creations in Junction City.
Bobby & Scott installed last Thursday, doing a great job!
Wow, What a difference!

Glad your fridge is working out for you. We've had our Samsung for 4+ years and wouldn't ever go back to an RV fridge regardless of the fire issues. More food storage space, better temperature control, high capacity ice maker. What's not to like?

Orman, we have had ours about 2 years now and love it. If you dry camp it uses very little power. Try letting it stabilize in the economy mode with the ice maker off. Unplug from power and then go look at your battery voltage and make a note of it. Now let it set for 8 hours on the inverter and then take another reading. you will be surprised. Marty

Orman, do you happen to have the model number Samsung that you bought?
My Norcold is ok for now, new cooling unit put in 2 years ago, but you never know when!
thanks, LaMonte

So glad for you. A new fridge is climbing our priority list as well.

Under my stock fridge is a drawer and under that is a heater vent. Has anyone who has done the fridge swap had to deal with that particular problem? What's the solution? I imagine you need the whole space down to the floor for the residential fridge, no? How about a picture Orman?

The place that did mine lowered the floor under the fridge to just above the heater vent. I lost the storage area that was above the old fridge.
We love our new Samsung except when we forget to latch the the door during travel. Stupid fridge LOL!

The Model # is
RF18HFENBSR
. The drawers below did have to be removed, A very sturdy platform was installed just above the heat register. The space lost is well worth it. We did have to do a very minor AC power mod. at the AC breaker panel. I will add a couple pictures later (if I know How)

LaMonte - I installed a Samsung RF197ACPN in 2011 and never regretted it even though I had trouble with a defrost sensor and thermostat in 2012. Most recently the defrost drain frost up. Applied a little hot water and it cleared up. I have sent for a clip that attaches to the defrost heater and goes down the drain tube. We'll see how that works.

Just had our Dometic reefer burner cleaned . We are at Toms RV Service in Albuquerque NM having the tow wired with coach controlled LED tail lights etc.
I would highly recommend Toms RV for any work .
A new Samsung reefer is our next project. Good news is the three drawers we loose under the reefer can be used/ modified / lengthened to fit where the old ice maker was located.

I think it is Samsung DA61-06796A I think it is longer than the original and if you google it you should get lots of choices from ebay to Amazon.

Bill has the correct part number. Ordered mine from AppliancePartsPros.com. Cost $2.45. Shipping triples the cost.

We recently installed a new residential refrigerator also. We have not had any issues yet.I do wonder if this clip or part you are referring to is needed on the newer model RF18.
I do know the older model RF197 was replaced by the RF18 and that is the model we just installed in March. It could be that the defrost problem with the longer clip or tube was corrected in the newer model.
Does anybody really know if this is the case or should I order this part?
