Cell Phone signal Booster and repeater. Any Experance?
« on: May 05, 2016, 11:36:56 AM »
HI I recently was looking at a cellphone range booster and were wondering if they were worth the money. Of course their web site indicates so but I was wondering if anyone has had one installed and what their results were.

Thanks Jim

Hi Jim! Give Keith Cooper a call. He has done extensive research on cell phone boosters and wifi and he can give you some information.

I have used a booster setup successfully to increase wifi reception.  I use this external antennae http://www.superpassantenna.com/USB/ProductSuperUSB-ASN6OP.html  with builtin signal booster  & an Alpha R36 wireless router to create a wireless hot spot in my coach http://www.amazon.com/Alfa-Network-Wireless-802-11g-AWUS036H/dp/B000WXSO76/ref=pd_bxgy_147_img_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0S8XN18Q6G5R2ARBJFE7.

In the Amazon link you'll see another type of antennae that can be used in lieu of the superpass.  This type of antennae has a shorter range and is for indoor use which will also lessen its' range but it might be all you need.  http://www.amazon.com/Alfa-Network-Wireless-802-11g-AWUS036H/dp/B000WXSO76/ref=pd_bxgy_147_img_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0S8XN18Q6G5R2ARBJFE7

I haven't looked at a cell phone signal booster yet.

Hi Jim
I have been using a Wilson 4g booster for 3 years and it definitely helps bring in the signals in weak areas.
It is not super powerful but you can expect to improve 1 to 2 bars on 4g and get 1 bar 4g from 3g.

I have a verizon account and use PDANET app on my Android phone which creates a WIFI hot spot for up to 5 devices.
