Generator Smoke
« on: June 02, 2017, 10:45:00 PM »
Generator has a lot of grey smoke for about 30 seconds after start then clears.  Starts and runs fine.  It hasn't done it in the past that I noticed.  Is this a problem that I should get ahead of?  Thanks

Jerry, we recently had Cummings do a lot of work on our 10k generator and one of the item they changed was a software update to reduce heavy  smoking at high altitude start ups. I have noticed the gen primes longer now before starting. fyi

Jerry, sounds like the smoke at start up than clears up you may be pulling air into
fuel system leakdown at shut down. Looking at fuel line coming from fuel tank to gen set
depending how long hoses been in place will crack before hose clamp. Would suggest
checking fuel hoses going into steel line before fuel filter on bottom.
