replacement blower fan for aqua hot
« on: May 06, 2018, 02:40:48 PM »
The fans that blow air across the heating coil in the coach at the driver vent and under the fridge seem to be making a louder than normal noise.
Has anyone replaced this blower fan? If so, how hard of a job is it and where can I get the fan.
2005 Monterey.
Thanks

Tom, in our coach we had a similar situation.  Fortunately it was the fan under the bed, providing easy access.  What I found was three of the four plastic rivets had loosened causing the fan blades to hit something.   I made sure the area around the fan blades was clear and pressed the rivets back in place and all was good for me.  Good luck!

Tom,
Replacement isn't a bad job once you get access. The fans are standard muffin fans. Radio Shack carries them if you can find one near you. Amazon or any electronics parts shop should also have them. One caution; they are DC voltage fans. not AC.

Here is the replacement fan I used, it moved enough volume of air and still ran pretty quiet.  Purchased from Amazon.com.   MULTICOMP MC36273 AXIAL FAN, 120 MM, 108.2 CFM, 44.5 dBA

Tom, when I complained of the inherently noisy exchangers when our coach was new, someone here or at BCS revealed there are quieter versions available.  I don’t remember the particulars aside from the cost to refit them all was prohibitive.  That said, the fans obviously are the part that make the racket and are going to be a far more affordable deal.  Getting at the one under the fridge may be a knuckle scraper, but removing the drawer in the front console should give easier access to that one.

Paul’s loose rivet scenario sounds like something to check out first, regardless.

Our Marquis had several fans that were very noisy.  Most were quieted by a good cleaning with an air gun.  Happily it made them more productive too.  There was a lot of dust built up.
The one at the end of the bed was just bad and had a small leak.  I bit the bullet and bought a new unit from Aqua Hot but the upgrade.  The heater only took up a little more room but had more coils and dual fans.  I highly recommend it, what a difference for heat and very quiet as well.
