I have a 2005 Beaver Patriot Thunder with a 525 cat engine.  I would like to pull a vehicle.  My question to all is how much weight is to much for my RV to tow?  I'm looking at a 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 flatbed which weighed 9700 lbs. On this flatbed I want to put a side by side on.  Which weighs approx. 1500 lbs.  how much is too much weight to be towed?  Thanks for any input  James

The hitch on the '05 Beaver Pat is rated to pull 10,000 lbs with a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs.
It sounds like your combination will be over the max limit.

Get the hitch beefed up by someone who knows what he's doing.  You will need brakes on the trailer.

If within your overall needs parameter re. the side-by-side size, see if a half or 3/4 ton truck helps bring you in comfortably under 10,000lbs.

I know many do it and will disagree, but over decades of reading about hitch modifications, I’m not a fan of that option.  When manufacturers set hitch limits, they factor much more in to it than just how beefy the hitch is or how it mounts to the frame.

Consider also a duo-level trailer where you could put the toy on top and an SUV or other medium to small toad under it.  Your 1 ton flatbed truck idea is nearly too much all by itself.
