TRW Steering box question

I have a TRW steering box on my 2007 Beaver Patriot. There is a little more wander in the steering than I would like, is there an adjustment for play on the TRW box? Been through most of the other checks and just checking on this one.

A previ9ous owner had a steering dampener installed  (Safety Steer I thjink) on ours.  Drives out great.

I believe you might be referring to a Safe T Plus?  We had one installed and it helped the handling of our coach.

The TRW box does have an adjustment for gear lash. It is normally used during setup but some have reported less steering free play after tightening the adjuster nut.
be careful not to tighten too much or you can have poor "return to center". I would not tighten more than a 1/8 to 1/4 turn. But your really supposed to be do this while measuring rotational force on input shaft - so anything you do now is just guessing..

Mike   Thank You   I do have a copy of the TRW manual but am reluctant to make any adjustments without doing a little research. I have installed a stearingdamper and yes it helps significantly but feel more improvement can be obtained.

Do not know if this will help as I do not know what make the steering box was on our 2004 Marquis.
With ours there seemed to be about 3/4" play in the steering wheel and you kept herding the coach down the lane. Found that the large nut that holds the pitman arm on to the steering box shaft was loose. You could tighten the nut but it did not change anything. Had one person turn steering wheel while other person watched pitman arm for movement. Arm moved but shaft did not for quite time left or right.
We removed the nut and found it had bottomed out on threads. Found a large washer to use as a shim and installed and tightened nut.
Results were a significant change in the play in steering and almost completely eliminated the wander effect.

There is a thread on here about our 02 Marquis that had the same problem though not due to threads.  Someone had left ours loose.
Thanks for posting as perhaps more people will check theirs.  I cant imagine the outcome had it gone badly!
