Technical Support / Bedroom slide inoperative (Update with pictures)
« Last post by Rick Vyncke on May 15, 2026, 01:25:36 AM »
2004 Beaver Marquis Garnet
3 slides (front slides are hydraulic) the rear bedroom slide has gears, chain and electric motor.

Put the bedroom slide out this morning and no problem whatsoever.  When I tried to retract it there was a loud pop and then for a brief moment it made a bit of a grinding sound.  Following that there seems to be no power to it and it does not move.  It is in the extended position.  Any information regarding make and model of that slide would be greatly appreciated.  It would be fantastic if I could put hands on technical or repair documents.

I removed the lower half of the bed so I could get a good look inside, but I don't see anything obvious and given my lack of knowledge of how it works I don't want to make things worse.  Any help would be appreciated.

In the first photo it appears that a bushing has broken or come out.  It is where the intermediate rod (I think it is called) mounts into the frame.  It seems to me that the chain might have excessive slack in it as well.  I assume this is the root of the problem... any guidance on repair?

One final question, I read that there should be an inline fuse for the motor... I cannot find that and none of my circuit breakers are tripped.  Any idea where I might find the source of the tripped power?

Thank you!!!

General Discussion / Ad listing clean up
« Last post by Keith Moffett Co-Admin on May 13, 2026, 10:10:43 PM »
Hi everyone.
Once again it is nearly time to clean up the “for sale” boards.
If you have an ad or item listed in the for sale boards but you no longer need the ad please remove it or simply contact me.
If the ad still has value to you we are happy to keep it on.
If your ad is more than six months or so old and I dont hear from you by email by next month it will be removed by mid June.
I will make every effort to contact each of you that fall into this category by email but often it is not possible.
Thank You
Keith Moffett

Technical Support / Re: water pump issue

Tom,

I missed this question, ‘How is it activated’.

In coach assist, the 2007 Patriot Thunder owner’s manual:
Page 152 shows the manual winterization valves.
Page 153 discusses how to use the optional Prevent-a-Freeze system.

2006 Patriot Thunder owner’s manual (which is searchable), page 195 shows the location of the Prevent-a-Freeze panel, the Service Center image in the 2007 manual does not show the Prevent-a-Freeze panel.

It doesn’t look like we have a 2008 PT manual online.

Tom,

I've not seen a wiring diagram for the Prevent-a-Freeze, the kit appers to be plug-n-play. You could give Swan a call in Bend @ 541.389.4668.

I believe the image below is what is installed in the our PT.

You can find the kit on Swan's Facebook page but it doesn't appear to be listed on their website.

Redecorating and Updating your Motorhome / Victron Cerbo GX Touch 70
« Last post by Eric Drickersen on May 11, 2026, 05:03:38 AM »
I recently had to change out my Silverleaf VMS320 for a newer version, which unfortunately no longer monitors tank levels. However, when I recently upgraded my system to LiPo batteries with a new MPPT solar charger by Victron, I decided to use the Cerbo GX system with the Touch 70 monitor (which incidentally fits in the opening left vacant by the VMS320). This allows me to monitor the solar charging, battery levels, charge rate, and coach and bay temps and humidity. In the future I will be able to also monitor the inverter data.

Recently, Victron updated the firmware for the system and allowing it to now link up with Shelly devices, such as automated relays and switches, Garmin devices, Apple Watch, tank monitors, etc. Exciting news for those interested in adding some automation to their coach.

For example, I am presently upgrading indirect lighting to LED strips, which will be centrally operated using Shelly RGBW relays. I am also using their relays to open and close all roller shades and blackouts. Theoretically, I could also control slide outs, awnings, thermostats, sound systems, etc. All this on the same touch screen or with voice commands. Functionality now somewhat affordably and accessible, previously found only on newer coaches.

The new control panel by Shelly is also worth checking out here: https://us.shelly.com/products/shelly-wall-display-xl-black
The new Victron firmware "Venus OS 3.7" here: https://www.victronenergy.com/blog/2026/02/25/introducing-venus-os-3-70/

Tom,

Assuming that your 2008 PT like our 2006 PT and has a gravity fill for the freshwater tank and a hose reel for city water. I don’t believe that there is a Swan Quick-Fill valve installed.

There is a check valve that prevents stored water from back feeding when the water pump is in use. I’ve included an image below. From my experience with our PT, when this check valve fails water will leak out of the hose reel connector.

If your coach has an auto-fill function via the Aladdin system, it is possible that the Red Hat electric valve is allowing air to enter the system.

Another place to look, if your coach has the Prevent-a-Freeze winterization system, the changeover valve could be allowing air to enter the system. On our coach, the Prevent-a-Freeze changeover valve is mounted on the forward bulkhead above the Aqua-Hot.
