New Tires

I am due for new tires and I presently have Toyo and have been fairly happy with them.  I have been offered Bridgestone tires for a fair price and wonder if anyone has used Bridgestone and could comment on them.  The size I need is 295/80/22.5

I had Bridgestones put on our prior motor home many years ago, and had no bad things to say about them.  In fact, they were annually inspected by Les Schwab from 6 years old on, and were in excellent shape for several years beyond the commonly accepted replacement timeline.  At any time therein, Les could have sold me a new set, but declined because the Bridgestone's were just fine.

I bought 295/80/22.5 Bridgestone tires from Les Schwab 4 years ago for my 2000 Marquis, and I have been very happy with them. I have about 50,000 miles on them so far and they are wearing great. I am having no uneven wear concerns or vibration problems. They have given me a smooth ride since the day they were installed and I only had the front tires balanced.

I am running the Goodyear 295/80/22.5 16 ply rv tires,  I did have Goodyear install 2 new fronts shortly after buying our rig a little over a year ago.  The rears are the factory installed tires from 2006.  They still look OK to me, but I am certainly no tire expert.  I know we are pushing the 7 year time limit, but have only 40,000 miles on the rears and about 10K on the new fronts.  Do you think Schwab would look at my tires and give me a report on condition, or with the age, should we just change them?  While at the service center in bend last week,  I ask for a quote to change all 8 tires to the Michelins 18ply.  The cost was $6100.00 less a trade-in on my new fronts.

Just a thought. Make sure you get the a credit for the old tires, as the tire folks will recap or sell as used.

Normally the old casing is worth about 95 to 105 dollars.

Just my opinion, but $6100 seems quite a bit high.  Truck tires should run no more than $600 each and that is on the high side.

Both Goodyear and Michelin just had price increases. I just paid 767.00 each for 2 Michelin 315x80x22,5.

Called T&W tire here in Oklahoma City and they quoted $708.07 for the Michelin XZA2. Taxes and labor brought the total to around $6400 range. They sure have gone up as I got new 275/80/22.5 less than 2 years ago for $3087, 6 tires.

Just talked to a tire dealer today and they have put a 10 day time limit on their quotes because of the way tire prices are going.

Tomorrow I am having 6 Bridgestone 295/80/22.5, 16 ply tires put on my coach.  I will be paying $580.00 each installed plus tax in Florida.  That comes to $3480 plus tax which is much higher than I payed a few years ago for 6 tires, but checking around it is a fairly good price now.

I just had 6 new Bridgestone 265/75R/22.5 tires put on my 2001 Beaver and cost was $560.00 per tire or $3360.00 for the full set.  This included,balancing,mounting, new valve stems, disposal fee, and all taxes.  I asked about any rebate for the carcass and they said mine would be on the way to the tire dump since they were over 7 years old.  This dealer has their own recapping plant and does not recap tires over 5 years old.

This is my first set of Bridgestone tires, and so far they ride great and much smoother than my Goodyears.
