Wiring Question Basement AC Thermostat
« on: April 05, 2022, 12:10:29 AM »
I have a 2001 Beaver Marquis purchased NTM in Oct 2021.  Has bad hi/lo AC  switch.  When installing new switch, I discovered two larger gauge Orange wires coming into the tstat compartment.  One was going to tstat small orange and the other disconnected.

Can anyone help in what the two orange wires for and where they go.  The wiring diagram and schematic are no help, only one orange wire shown.

    Walter,
Enclosed please find the schematic on the back of the access cover to the electrical components of the basement air. This cover is just forward of the water connections and shut-offs. Inside you will find the thermostat wiring from the t-stat mounted on the bar cabinet. Fred

Walter,
In case Fred's diagram doesn't help, here is some info I put together after replacing the T'stat in my 00 Marquis.

      Walter,
Here is another consideration. I do not know the date your Marquis was manufactured. There is a label at the entry door that states that information. Please advise. There is a transition period in manufacturing production somewhere in 2001 where they dropped the basement air conditioning and went to roof air conditioning. Even my 2000 Marquis had romex wiring pre-wired up in the ceiling to that intention I believe. My point is this, that extra orange wire from the t-stat location my not terminate at the basement air conditioning electrical connections. All coaches that have roof top air conditioners (Duo-therm) feed the thermostat information from the front air conditioner. That orange wire may terminate up in roof near the location where the front air would be located.
The "hi Low" switch you are changing cuts off compressor #2 so you can run the air conditioner on a 30 amp service. BTW not a good idea because there is very little electrical capacity left over to power up the rest of the coach. Hope this helps, Fred

Fred and Steve,
Very helpful, thank you both.
Steve, I have been using your post from the thread you sent.  It got me on the right track, saved hours of work and research..
Fred, thank you, I am out to track down the other mysterious orange wire!  Took the control board out and sent to board repair shop in Hickory NC.  Should get a quote today on repair.
Thanks for your help!!!

Fred,
My 01 Marquis was Date of Inc. Mfg. is  Oct 2000  with Date of Mfg. of Nov 2000 according to the tag behind the driver seat.  SO sounds like right in that transition period.
Thanks again for the help.
Walt

   Thanks Walter,
Production dates run from July 1st to July 1st so yours is definitely a 2001. I was looking in "Coast Assist" at a 2002 Marquis Owners manual and it still showed the basement air conditioner t-stat and filter location and all that is bogus information. Fred
