Transfer switch location on 2004 Beaver Marquis
« on: January 08, 2023, 05:40:11 PM »
Where is the transfer switch located on a 2004 Beaver Marquis? We have no AC power. The inverter has power and the generator works but nothing else. We can not find the transfer switch.

Albert,
It's located on the ceiling of the passenger side 3rd bay back from the front of the coach (bay just in front of the propane tank bay). it is behind the inverter if I remember correctly.

Follow the power cord wires. Are you sure the power source is good that you are plugged into?

Steve, This is a 2004 Marquis 43ft tag. The inverter is in the middle of the 4th bay back on the passenger side. There is nothing around the inverter. We can not find the transfer switch. Any other ideas?

Albert,
I'm confused. Your Forum profile and the member directory indicate you have an 2007 Contessa. Are they incorrect?

Steve, you are not confused. I am in the process of evaluating this rig to purchase for my daughter and family. All looked good until last night when we lost power. I have put the purchase on hold subject to figuring out and fixing the problem. So, if you or others know where the transfer switch is located on a 2004 43ft Marquis let me know so I can proceed. Thank you

Albert,
It's in one of the basement compartments, probably mounted on the ceiling. It should be a grey box. A surge guard was an option on the 04s. Per this link it appears to be also be a gray box mounted next to the transfer switch.  https://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,10634.msg72809.html#msg72809

In our 2004 Marquis, the Transfer Switch (TS) is ceiling mounted immediately fore a couple of feet from the inverter and between the large main frame rails.  This basement location is accessed one door fore of the water bay door, street-side.  We have two gray boxes with two(?) large power cables (one from the generator and the other from the shore power plug) going in and one(?) large power cable coming out of the TS box.  The other gray box contained two signal transformers (one for each incoming leg) to modify the incoming (close to) 120 volts on each leg to a lower voltage (about 1/7th?) for the Aladdin system control boxes and the Aladdin reconverts each leg's display reading back to (close to) 120 volts.

We had to replace our TS in the summer of 2021 and finding a same-model-number replacement was a chore and expensive... like around $400... and it was not an identical box so we had to do some customization.

Thank you all. A transfer switch has been located and ordered. Hopefully, this will take care of the problem. Great feedback and I appreciate the help. Albert
