Not Getting AC from Relay to Inverter to Charge Batteries
« on: September 09, 2023, 02:47:33 PM »
AC is coming into this relay but not going out to the inverter and ancillary breaker box that powers the 110 outlets in the coach.  This relay is in a box under the inverter in the bay underneath. The inverter is not charging the batteries. Has anyone else encountered this problem and where to purchase this relay.
Or any other suggestions on what the problem could be.  I attached a picture of the relay. Thank you.

I do not recall seeing this part in our coach.  Thus, I have no idea what function it performs nor have any idea if it is malfunctioning.  But, be that as it may be, I did find the part online.

   Hi Lawlor,
As David stated, I am not familiar with that relay. I would suggest that you should look at the electrical diagram for your coach and inverter. To find that, click on the heading under technical and scroll down to "coach assist" . After signing in, scroll down to wiring systems and click 03 marquis. On page 57 is the layout of your coach. You can trace the 120 volts into the inverter/charger and out, the 12volts into the inverter/charger and out. Your Xantrex owners manual is also located in Coach assist. It is not unusual for the Xantrex inverter/charger to fail when they are 20 years old. Fred

Lawlor,
This is the relay schematic. https://www.onlinecomponents.com/en/datasheet/375tm3pdt30a120vac-49081050/
You can use it to determine if the relay is functional. If you have 12V across the 2 "bottom" pins the relay should be closed. You'll have to trace the wires connected to it to figure out its function though.

Thank you Fred.  We have power from the transfer switch to the relay. We don't have power coming out of the relay going into the inverter and also to the breaker box that runs the 110 outlets in the coach.  The 12V side of the inverter is working. Any other suggestions?

  Lawlor,
I think if it was me trouble-shooting the issue, I would perform the following sequence. Plug the coach into shore power. Check the output from the 30 amp circuit breaker in the main panel identified as "inverter". If 120 volts present, then I would remove the little white cover on the inverter that reveals the romex connections going to and coming from the inverter. With my meter I would check for 120 volts going into the inverter. If present, then check for 120 volts coming out of the inverter. That would prove that the internal transfer relay inside the inverter is passing thru the 120 volts coming into it. If there is 120 volts going into the inverter, and none coming out of the inverter, then either the circuit breaker mounted on the Inverter is tripped or the transfer relay inside the inverter has failed. If there is no 120 volts coming into the inverter, then I would trace that romex backwards to find the open circuit. Perhaps it is this relay that your talking about. I am not familiar with this relay or what its purpose is. It is not on any of the coach schematics that I have looked at. Please advise, Fred

Thank you Fred.   I have sent this to our guy that is helping us with this problem.  I will keep you posted on the outcome.
