Randy,
On my 98 Patriot I trashed the amp and the 6 cd changer and replaced them with a cheap Pyle DVD/CD/MP3 Player and I reused the Bose speakers.  I had read that they would not work well with non Bose equipment, but they sound fine to me.  I stripped out a few miles of unneeded wire and connected the Front TV to the Pyle unit as well.
After all that I rarely use it!  I can watch DVD's from it, but usually stream.  I can stream music to it from one of our phones, but usually just use the same small bluetooth speaker we use outside.  I can use it for a sound bar for the front TV, but a simple sound bar does fine with less effort.   I can also tune in radio stations, but rarely listen to the radio inside the RV unless I am driving.  Even then my wife streams Pandora to the dash radio, which uses two front speakers
So I have it, it works, but it largely goes unused.
Hopefully this will give you a direction to to in.  The cost involved is minimum, but you may want a better head unit than mine.  For me it is nice to have everything work and options for those rainy days I hope to never have.
