Onan 10K diesel generator woes

Well, I am officially being beat by this generator.  During our transport trip from Ft Myers to Austin, everything performed flawlessly.  Then all of a sudden, the generator starting cutting out while trying to boondock at a buddies land.  Starts and runs fine.

Seems when I try to operate the ACs that the unit then wants to cut out after 5-10 minutes or so.

I can fire it back up, runs fine, and then flip on the ACs.  Probably 5 minutes later, it cuts out again.

Rinse and repeat same behavior.  I cannot seem to figure it out.   Only has 832 hours.  We go on a NM national forest trip over Halloween in about a month.

Is the generator throwing any codes?  Find that out and we can likely help you more.  The other common thing is to check for a fuel issue, either a clogged filter or a leak in one of the fuel lines.  If it can not get fuel it will stall under load so hopefully it will be that simple.

I was having the same kind of issues with mine.  After much troubleshooting (replacing filters, testing electronics, etc...), I eventually found that the fuel hose was being pinched in the slide mechanism when the slide was retracted.  I replaced the fuel lines and hung them on a spring so they would not catch in the mechanism.  No more problems.  Verify that you are getting adequate fuel.  Good luck.

This is a long shot because of your low hours but it could be that the fan belt has broken. When it starts up it should be a lot of air blowing out of bottom front of the unit. The radiator lays flat under the generator portion of the unit, the fan pulls air from the backend and pushes it through to the radiator.

I agree with you Roy except the discharge is at the rear side of the generator. There is strong velocity when running. if not the belt is shredded. Fred
