How to clean front curtains
« on: March 20, 2025, 01:53:33 AM »
The front curtains around the windshield are very dirty. The manual says dry clean only. When I brought them to the dry cleaner he said that the blackout part behind the fabric would be damaged by the dry cleaning fluid and suggested taking them to a dry cleaner that uses petroleum based solvents. but that dry cleaner said the heat from the drying process would probably damage the blackout material also. they both suggested using a large commercial front loading washer like one in a laundromat but I don't know if the water will shrink the fabric since the manual states dry clean only. Has anyone had their front curtains cleaned. what did you use.
 Thanks
Greg

We had 2002 Marquis with motorized blackout curtains.  We removed the curtains and carefully worked out the wiring.  The dry cleaner just did his job normally and we reinstalled the wires and the curtain.  Tedious but doable.  No rips or damage to the backing.
