Lost 120v power to all gfi

When plugged into shore power I’m hooked up at home to  a 120 15 amp with an adapter. I have lost power to all gfi outlets, I’ve found 3 gfi outlets one in the bacement one in the living room and one at the microwave… the outlet in the passenger side bedroom has 120v the one in the dining room has 120v all of the plugs with gfi stickers are 0 volts. There is no voltage going to these ….same with the generator running…… also normally when I plug it in the power for inverter and charger comes on it does not…if I turn the inverter on I have power to everything…help I’m lost where do the gfi get there power from?

Chuck,

Do you have a GFI at the bathroom sink?  If so that may be where it is tripped.  Doesn't make sense that it would have power while on the inverter.  I would probably start by checking the wiring on the back of the receptacles closest to the panel box and work my way out.

Either that or check out the automatic transfer switch to make sure it is passing electricity through on both legs.

Chuck
The gfi plugs are usually connected in a daisy chain with the first gfi having the reset and trip buttons on its face.
If that first plug is tripped or defective all the others down stream of it with be dead as well.
As Carl said start at that first gfi receptacle and check for power feeding into it .

Got me pulling my hair out
There is on pow to any gfi there are 3 that are the actual gfi none of them have power from shore . There are two regular plugs that dont have a gfi stickers on them they do have power . The inverter will only turn on and produce 120v but the charger won’t turn on ,so I assume it’s not getting shore power

    Chuck,
It sounds like the "pass-thru" relay inside the inverter may be at fault. To prove that, unplug the coach and turn on the Inverter. If all the GFI outlets are working, it proves that the source is the issue. Fred

Chuck,

To follow up on Fred who has forgot more than I ever learned, what type/brand of inverter do you have?  My old Freedom in the BAC members only section.

Hopefully it will turn out to be something simple.

OK I am about to give up.  The last post was only partially populated and the site keeps going to the other BAC site that has nothing to do with us.  Check your resettable breakers if you have a freedom inverter, also check the manual online here.  Hopefully this will post

It is most likely the inverter pass through, I’m going to pull the cover tomorrow and see if there is a fuse. Google says it’s not worth repairing, I’m going to be the judge of that … thanks for all the help I’ll let you know what to find

Chuck,
If you have to replace the inverter, consider a Magnum Pure Sine Wave unit. I replaced my Xantrex with a MS-2012 unit after having issues with my Samsung reefer. It worked flawlessly and was easier to operate than the Xantrex unit. That said, if you are not planning on ever installing a residential reefer and are satisfied with the operation of your current electronics, a modified sine wave unit is probably sufficient and less $ than the pure sine wave unit.

Well I’m back up and running . It looks like the inverter was replaces in 2017 . The black 120v wire was burnt and was not making connections. Pulled it out and cut it back to good wire replace the wire nut and checked all the others and replace the electrical take and all wire nuts .

    Hey Chuck,
Great news! I am really happy you found the issue. No power in equals no power out! Sure beats buying another Inverter/Charger. Thanks for getting back to us with the results. Some folks solve a problem and then go their merry way and the forum does not if it accomplished its purpose! Blessings, Fred
