Dash AC Max Fan kills it

I have a 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder. Working on the AC, replaced the compressor, the pressure switch, cleaned 20 years of grime of the condenser fan. It is is working great, the thing that is not, I can turn the fan to max, which I have read is good as it closes the vent to recirculate. However after about 10 minutes or so the fan dies, and the fuse blows. I have to shutdown the rig, wait about 30 minutes, then when I restart, it works again. So I am limited to keeping the fan one notch below max. Any ideas on what might be happening? How difficult is it to work on the dash parts? It looks impossible on how to get to reach it from underneath, my arms aren't that long. Thanks for any help

It sounds like your fan resistor may be overheating and blowing the fuse. If so, it should do it on non-AC setting also. I had to replace mine on our 2000 Marquis. If memory holds, it was located in the front firewall on the drivers side and was not too tough to get to. It's a Ford part. The Acme part # is D32H-19A706-AB.

 I too had an issue with my condenser fan and dash blower on "medium high" setting would run for a short time and then the condenser fan and the dash blower would shut down. It turned out to be a "weak 20 amp" circuit breaker in the electrical bay under the drivers window. Using a 12volt amp clamp-on meter revealed the circuit breaker would trip at 13 amps after 15 minutes of transit. Installed new 20 amp auto reset breaker to correct situation. Fred

I replaced the resistor and same problem, that was an easy fix, but didn't resolve. I will try the fuse next. Did you replace with one the fuses that is in the beaver panel or a standalone? If the beaver one where did you get such a thing?

  It is a standard auto-reset 12volt circuit breaker, if your 12 volt breakers are configured similar to my coach. I am pretty sure O'riellys, auto zone or Napa. will carry it. Make sure you replace it with same value rated on the breaker. Fred
