Abnormally low operating temperature

First let me say, it was cool around 50 degrees, on our short trip to the mountains of north Georgia. The engine temp and the tranny temp stayed just above 120 degrees, and provided little heat in the dash air.
Anyone else experience this issue?

It sounds as if your thermostat is opening too soon. CAT says that its engines should operate at a minimum of 180 degrees.
