Hot Spots on Sidewall - Outside
« on: November 14, 2011, 07:55:09 AM »
On my way in the door today I put my hand on the top chromed mount at the top of the lighted handhold and discovered it is hot to the touch. Pretty much at the upper limit of what I can keep my hand on. The bottom one was not. I figured it was the Florida sun but then I decided to pat down the side and see.......There is a patch at the front door about 2' x 2' covering the area with the chromed "Marquis" and then a second roughly where the credenza is on the inside, between the copilot's chair and the Lazyboy.

Both patches are about a foot above the interior floor.

We have the aquahot on electric, which seems to get the heat circulating by convection, but I can't see why there would by heating lines in the wall by the door.......

Jim,
If you had the porch light (patio light) on, the light for the clear assist handle at your front door would also be on. Since this light is an incandescent light, it will heat up the area around the handle. The other warm area is probably from the AquaHot heat exchanger that is located under the credenza.

thanks, Gerald.

that's what I thought, but it seemed awfully hot and I was worrying about it being electrical internal to the wall.

Thanks

Jim
