PROSINE FAULTS

2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder 455hp

We had trouble starting our C12 Cat engine in -15c weather. The generator was running and the booster switch was used to help start the motor but the generator would shut off each time we tried to start the C12.

We finally got it working with the help of an industrial charger, however the prosine panel started flashing a red light and started a continuous beeping in the fault section and the charger and inverter both shut off and would not come back on,

 In talking to Beaver service in Bend, they said to disconnect the wire at the back of the prosine and also both sets of batteries then, plug in the wire to the prosine and then reconnect the batteries, however this did nothing.

We bought a new set of starting batteries and tried it again. The beeping stopped but the red fault light was still flashing. We could get either the inverter or charger to light up but they would be blinking the same as the fault light and that is where things stand now.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Cecil,

You may be able to cancel the fault if your problem is corrected. The way to reset the Prosine, if you cannot clear the fault is to first drop all 120V power to the coach, either shutting of the generator or disconnect the cord connection or both. Then turn off the house battery switch for at least 15 seconds. This emptys the fault memory and resets the electronics by fully dropping the power. The chassis battery switch should be turned back on before any 120V is connected. If the problem persists you may have a bad charger or some issue with the house battery bank that is causing a fault. There is a procedure in the manual that will count out a code for the fault that you are getting if one is stored. When I have had the alarm go off I have not gotten a code stored but you may. Hope this helps.

 Thanks Ed.  I finally found the problem. The inverter/charger was tripped during the starting problem, and once I found the reset button above the 2  wires from the remote in the inverter, and reset it, every thing was back to normal.  THANKS again for your prompt help.
