C9 fuel filter part number

As part of the preparation for our trip in 4 weeks, I want to purchase a spare fuel filter. The owner's manual says the water/fuel separator (Primary Fuel Filter) OEM replacement is Raycor - 300200. Googling this part, or trying to cross reference it brings up Racor filters only, and that manufacturer doesn't list that part #. Also, the owner's manual lists a secondary fuel filter at Caterpillar 1R0751.

Does anyone have a NAPA or other cross reference part # for the Racor? For which one do I need to have a spare on hand?

Hello Stan,

On my 2007 C9 Engine the CAT dealer used Cat # 256-8753 for the fuel water separator filter and 1R-0751 as the secondary.

The 256-8753 crosses to a NAPA 3406
The 1R-0751 crosses to a NAPA 3626

Hope this helps but I would check with your local CAT dealer to make sure they ar correct for your engine.

I think what you have is an after market filter where the 1R-0751 final filter would go. Being white it is not a Cat filter. I do not own a C9, so I am not absolutely sure of this but your manual should point out what filter that unit is for.

When you do the cross reference to other filter suppliers, all that assures is that the filter will physically fit the holder and not that it is an equivalent filter for removing harmful particles. I would change that filter to a Cat 1R-0751 high efficiency, they are not that expensive, and far superior. The Racor is a good primary filter and I would stick with that brand also.

The other dipstick looks like a transmission dip stick that could be used when the transmission is warm per the manual procedure. You should also be able to check that fluid level warm using the transmission control panel procedure in the manual which you are probably already doing.

I can't find any diagram or indication in the CAT manual, or online, that shows the location of the Racor filiter...apparently, the primary one. Any ideas?

Thank you for the clarification, I think I will change that aftermarket filter before I go. There is a CAT service center here in town.

The Filter shown in your picture is a NAPA # 3626 that is a replacement for the CAT # 1R0751.

I don't know what the dipstick is for. I don't have one in that location on my coach.

Maybe the it's for the transmission.

There should be a fuel line that comes into the housing you photographed that holds the cat filter. If you follow that fuel line you should find the Racor filter at the other end. In my coach it is mounted in the rear side compartment along with the secondary filter but we have different models and years. Usually there is a means of priming the Racor in the form of a push button manual pump, or an electric switch for an electric one. Many times there is a metal or clear plastic bowl at the base of the filter for water separation. It has to be located in a servicable location so do not go looking too deep...

If you are getting the secondary filter serviced by Cat they should be able to find the primary filter very quickly if you have not been able to. There is a chance that Monaco did not mount one but I think that is not the case. This is an example of a manual pump version of a Racor so that you can see what you are looking for. The electric version omits the black button and has a awitch and a small bult in pump for priming.

Racor is now making a 2 micron filter element but in the service as a primary filter you would want the 10 micron element version. The 2 micron is for cases when there is no secondary filter and this filter is doing both jobs. This is a prefilter application and its job is to remove water and larger particles.
