These tires have a tendency to wear the second rib from the outside because of their construction design, but if you are wearing only the outside rib it is normally caused by a front end alignment problem.

Once a tire starts to wear uneven, it will always look uneven, because with the problem corrected the tire will wear at the same rate over all of the thread and therefore the uneven wear will remain but not get any worse.

How many miles on the tire? Was the front end aligned after tires were put on? Powers to be recommend front end alignment even after buying a brand rig. Consider exchanging a rear tire for the front wearing tire.

Had them on my 03 Monterey and went through the entire scenerio until I threw them away after 53,000 miles. As Gerald said there was a design flaw with that tire. Love my new Michelins.

Arround 20,000 miles on tires, Laser alignment done by JoSam in Orlando, FL. Had one Bilstein failure that was replaced under Bilstein warranty. Has been modified to 4 from 2 shocks on the four air bag front suspension. I am going to raise the air pressure to 120 from 110 (105 is the tire chart PSI) as it has been weighed by wheel.

Heard from Mike Ware the Florida Commercial Goodyear representative.  Only suggestion was to rotate tires.

I had the same problem with the original Goodyear’s on my coach.  The uneven scalloping tire wear only happens on free wheeling (front) tires.  Although tire dealers were quick to point to possible alignment or other vehicle problems, a thorough vehicle check by Josams revealed that it was not a vehicle issue.  I was later told that the tire wear issue is a known defect of the Goodyear tire.  They just have a hard time acknowledging there is an issue with their tire.  After all, Ford still maintains that there was nothing wrong with the Pinto gas tank, and General Motors still says there is nothing wrong with the way the Corvair handled.  My next set of tires was Continentals and my third set was Michelins.  There were no uneven wear issues with either of them.

It seems these days that it sure hard to find the "right" technical help.  Who can one trust anymore?  It is absolutely maddening at times.
That is one the GREAT things about this forum, you can get comments, and experiences from fellow Beaver owners.

Thank you Joel for your coments. I took the coach to a dealer reccomended by the tire rep for the rears one was out of round and could not be indexed to be round but did not address the fronts at that time. Plan to swap the fornts side to side and rebalance.
