Dash Board Heater/AC
« on: October 18, 2015, 04:25:12 AM »
I have a 2005 Monterey 400 Cat. While driving I have no heat or AC. The blower works, but just blows air. I've had a couple of people look at it. I was told I need someone that specializes in Roadmaster chassis's. We plan on going to Oregon next summer to have it fixed. I hoping someone can give me advice on where I can go for repairs. Thank You Ron

Most here would recommend Beaver Coach Sales in Bend, if you intend to wait until then rather than seek earlier assistance.  What's haywire is likely not peculiar to Roadmaster, though, so perhaps if you'd like it repaired sooner you just need to find a more competent local facility.

If you decide to wait, there are a couple others in Bend also quite familiar with Roadmaster or most any chassis.  Your quarterly copy of Beaver Tales will show them as club supporters.  Whether one of them or BCS, that is their busiest time, so call and schedule well in advance.

It could be a ducting gate issue, electrical or mechanical, esp. since you have neither temp. control.  But then ours has never been particularly good at either dash heat or cooling, as I've heard others report about theirs.  In extreme ambient conditions, many just go to genset and roof air, or diesel hydronics to heat on the road.

Hi Ron, BCS is a good resource as well as a few other shops in bend, they all tend to be busy so please book at least 2-3 months early.

If you plan to be up in the NW next year for the Seven feathers rally, I know they are all booking now for mid year(2016) appointments. I think that BCS will have service at the Seven feathers rally in September 2016.

You could of course have no problem getting service during the winter but the roads present a problem for most of us.

I agree with Joel, this is not a roadmaster issue this will be a house problem, I doubt that you have a big problem.

I have dealt with Mike in parts at BCS on several occasions, and have been very satisfied with their service so far. I will definitely call to make an appointment. I do drive with house heat/AC on and so far that works fine.

I drove tractor trailer for 30 years and had to drive in bad weather no matter what. Now that I'm retired I have become a " fair weather driver ", no snow or rain.

Thank you for the advice so far. I will keep you updated.
