Sharp Carousel Convection Microwave removal.
« on: December 27, 2015, 10:33:33 PM »
I unplugged the unit. I unbolted the top 2 fasteners.  I pried the   back off the support  ledge expecting the unit to drop down onto my support but it stubbornly refuses to come away from the wall.
Obviously there is a hidden fastener on the back of the unit.
Anyone want to make suggestions before I go nuts with a tire iron ?????

Typically you have to tip the front down a bit and then lift the back up about a 1/4 inch or so. There is a lip on the backing wall plate that holds the back of the microwave.

           Good Luck.          Larry D.

Jeremy.   Larry is right. I have replaced my Sharp with a GE Profile some years ago. I beefed up the new backing plate since it was totally under engineered for my application.

To make it easier, get a couple of plastic crates or strong boxes so the oven does not crash down on your counter top and destroy it. Use two people and you will not have trouble.

Solved the problem.  There are 2 very long bolts that are screwed from either side of the microwave convection oven base at 45 degrees to the backplate.  These bolts are visible when you remove the filters under the unit.  Undo the 2  top bolts; let the unit lean forward; protect the stove top and with a helper undo these 2 long bolts and the unit just slides off the wall plate. Easypeasy !!!
We are installing a Samsung  Stainless steel 1.7 cu ft convection microwave
Most of the plastic front panels and door opener button on The Sharp Carousel had cracked or fallen off !!!
