Motor won't turn off with key
« on: August 08, 2016, 05:27:22 PM »
Problem is fixed.  I talked to Ken Carpenter on Gerald’s advice.  Ken had no clue and asked me to post on here when I found the problem.  Gerald led me to the ignition bus where I found that after turning key off there was still 8.5 volts on the bus.  Only 8.5 because there was a fan running off the voltage dragging it down.  Through process of elimination I found that wire #233 labeled “ignition power” had battery voltage on it constantly, after removing the fan wire dragging it down.  I had the genny running and could see the voltage increasing as the batteries charged.  Anyway I used my diagrams to find out that that wire went to the alternator and the air dryer.  At this point I turned the problem over to Eagle’s Pride RV in Titusville FL.  They found that the alternator has an internal short.  Lucky for us that we were almost home after 6800 mile trip out west.   If all goes as scheduled we will be on our way for a 2 month tour of the North East as soon I get the coach back.  Thanks again Gerald for getting me going in the right direction.

When you want to know the quickest way to resolve a problem involving your coach, call Gerald. As Jerry found it does not matter how many thousand miles away you are, or the coach you are in or now have, if it is a Beaver, call Gerald as he is our 911 resource that is utterly an encyclopedia of information at your finger tips. Thank You Gerald.
