Any check valves in the House water system other than the pump?
« on: January 03, 2017, 09:22:48 PM »
We have been experiencing a loss of water pressure with the house pump and my sweetie is very  :-[ unhappy. The pump acts like it is losing its prime when it sits for a period of time. Pressure on the interior faucets and shower is greatly diminished with the pump on and running if the system hasn't been used for a while (mostly overnight). If I turn on the faucet in the outside bay where the utilities are the stream spits for about 5-10 seconds and then comes on strong, as does the pressure for the rest of the system, apparently regaining the prime. We have been leaving the pump off until we need a shower or need to run the washer, water pressure in this park is weak, and the pump seems to leak down after a bit. Never used to have an issue until about two weeks ago. The Park had a water issue and worked on the system after we arrived. I have a Camco Evo system between the park and the coach and it is not clogged.  My question is, is there another check valve in the system that would be holding pressure? Should I look elsewhere or call Remco, the manufacturer, and try to get satisfaction under the warranty (pump was replaced about 18 mo. ago and the pump has a two year warranty)?  :-\

We were having the same issues and finally found that there is a metal screen filter between the pump and the inlet hose for the water tank.  It is a clear round device that comes apart with a quarter twist counterclockwise.  It had black 'crud' in it and when cleaned allowed the proper flow to resume.

That screen was the first thing I checked, since my issue is a flow issue rather than a go-nogo thing. Nice and clean. The problem seems to be a loss of prime which indicates the equivalent of a check valve failure to contain the acquired pressure in the system. I wish it had been crud in the lines.

Bruce
we had a 98 Pat that had similar problems and we replaced the city water connector because the forum said stuck pressure regulator valve.  It did work.  The pressure regulator was aparently weak and crud finished it off.  It must have been stuck open.  A new connector from BCS and pressure was up.  Get the air out of the system and pressure was better but the pump surged just a bit.  It was suggested that there was air in the washer supply lines so we ran a couple cycles and problem solved.

Bruce,
There are only 2 pressure check valves in your coach water system. One is built into the shore water inlet to prevent the pump from pumping water out the inlet, and the other one is built into your water pump.

Thanks for the input, I guess the inlet valve is probably due for a preventative replacement. The pump is new and seems to be holding pressure just fine as long as the pump is ON 24/7. We have encountered enough sketchy water leaving deposits of who knows what to make cautionary replacement a good idea. I think my tag line is going to be "I don't need a hobby, I own a motorcoach." 8)

Bruce,

Info and PNs in this post that you should consider if your water feed is restrictive. There is a higher flow pressure regulating inlet fittings with a check valve or one with just a check valve in this post. Also a higher flow regulator that is used at the campground supply before your hose connection. If it is the pump and you are using that there are higher flow pumps available.
