Ice Maker Filter on 2005 Monterey Ventura II
« on: January 28, 2017, 06:23:30 PM »
OK I FU'd. Replaced water pump yesterday. Yeah - works like a charm. While in there decided to replace Ice Maker filter as well as I have know idea how long it's been in there. Neglected to note flow direction. Knowing there are a number of members with same year and model we have I'll ask. Is the filter mounted so the flow is driver side to passenger side or passenger side to driver side? As always I appreciate the wisdom of this group. TIA

Jeff:

Don't know off top of my head.  I'll walk down to the coach and look as soon as I get a break this morning..

Jeff,

On ours, the ref filter is mounted pointing pass side to drivers side.

Ours: From the pump output, blue pex water pipe goes down and hooks around to a tee fitting for the ref water filter, and then out to the rest of the coach and low point drain.   From the tee fitting, the blue pex is reduced to 1/4 flex tube, then short run to a 90deg turn shutoff for the filter, then to the push on compression fitting on the filter input itself, through the filter and out to the ref.

If you need a quick picture, feel free to ask..

I've seen one coach that replaced some of their lines and short runs by the water pump with different pipe sizes and fittings based on the upgraded type of ice maker water filter that they had purchased, so I wasn't sure if your is still orig or not...

This how I have it set up now flow = Driv S>Pass S. Does this look correct?

Jeff,
I can not see the flow direction arrows on your filter, but the inlet should be closest to the water pump with the flow direction arrow pointing away from the water pump.

Jeff,
The picture you posted shows the filter mounted in the wrong direction. The Flow> is pointing back toward the ice-maker shut-off valve and water pump. As Gerald noted, it needs to point toward the reefer.

Ditto here.  The larger white pipe is your supply coming into the system from your tank or city water, going through the round screen filter mounted to the pump's top/head.  Everything in blue is outbound from the pump, so your icemaker filter appears to be backward in the photo.

If never checked when you replaced the pump, you might want to unscrew the plastic cover and see to it that the pump's screen filter is clean;  after long periods they can get algae buildup that impedes flow, or just grit that needs a rinse out under a tap.  Usually you can see any significant grundge through the clear cover, but its easy enough to just remove it and get a good gander.  Hold a dish or towel under the screen filter to catch drips while unscrewing the clear cover.

Thanks all - filter correctly mounted now. For the filter - I installed a new one that came with the pump.
