Silverleaf VMSpc
« on: December 27, 2017, 08:07:29 PM »
I am thinking of buying a Silver leaf VMSpc and am looking for feedback from people who have one.
I don't have a problem but would like better info on trouble codes and more info that is not on the Aladdin system, such as intake manifold
temps.
We have the Cat C-9s engine with it's trouble prone regen system.
Thanks

Greg,
I have the Silverleaf VMSpc, installed it on a Windows based HP tablet I bought online for about $300, it has to be a Windows based tablet or laptop. I have an 05 Monterey with the cat C-9, i'm not sure what you refer to as the 'trouble prone regen system'

Once you get the software installed and check their website for any updates, you can create a customized dashboard to your liking. The only glitch I've come across is the odometer gauge doesn't work properly, if at all. There is a ton of different gauges you can set up and it will give you much more information than the Aladdin system did. I got a Ram mount to hold the tablet and set it on top of the dash so I can now have the rear view camera on the Aladdin all the time.

Silverleaf's tech support is fantastic. There is a forum on their website you can sign up for and Art is the man to talk to, he designed the system. If you go on their website, you can see the different installations and also the 'Glass Dash' they have available. That is amazing but it's expen$ive!

I can definitely recommend the VMSpc

I have had the VMSpc for several years and I love it. Get a decent tablet to install it on and use the jib and hook it directly to your ECM.
I tried the wireless bluetooth and others have too and we had problems with the connection. I suggest the wired connection.
Art is very helpful and the website has lots of info.

I installed on a Walmart Nextbook and the only problems I experience are with the tablet itself. Get a decent tablet that you can use for the application.

I have had it installed for 2 years on a 98 Patriot. One feature that I just love is that the pc screen can be easily read even in bright sun which is totally unlike my older Silverleaf II.  The extra gauges are also nice. Do it and I doubt you will regret it.

I've had the system for at least five years and wouldn't be without it.  Only problem is that once in a while the odometer readings get fouled up, but eventually they go back to OK.  Just as likely to be a fouled up diagnostic port in the 2007 Contessa as in the SilverLeaf system.  Mine is hooked to a netbook (tablets were no common when I bought the device) which sits nicely on my dashboard.

Greg:

Ditto on what everyone has posted. There was a few of us that went Bluetooth, big mistake. As Dan M. recommends, go hard wired.

Greg,
I have had mine in my 08 Patriot for about 5 years, would not run without it.  Mine is Bluetooth and I have had no connection problems.  I use a Samsung tablet.  Highly recommend.
