Hydraulic fluid tank

I see from my Beaver specs I should be using 20 quarts of Dexron 2 or 3 for the power steering/engine cooling fan hydraulic system.   Am I correct?

To the best of my memory, changing the filter, draining, and refilling the hydraulic tank on my 2000 Marquis required 14 quarts of fluid.

Hi Gerald,
   we will have enough Dexron 3 on hand  with 20 quarts.  I was wondering if there is a better fluid to use now?

I plan to use TranSynd the next time that I change my hydraulic fluid. TranSynd has about the same viscosity as Dexron 3, but it has a much higher shear strength and heat tolerance, so it will greatly reduce the pump and fan motor wear in the hydraulic system, as well as it It will give you a longer change interval.

I wonder if Transynd might affect the seals/gasket, etc.  I hear that some Cat engines have had seal/gasket problems switching to Transynd.

As long as you don't let anymore superfluids into your Splendide, and the Transynd stays in the Allison, I wouldn't think you'd have anymore displaced or malfunctioning component problems.

TranSynd will not harm any seals in the hydraulic system. There is no way that it can have any effect on the Cat engine, because it is never used in the engine; only in the transmission and hydraulic system that are both isolated from the engine.

Thanks Gerald.  We will go with Dexron this time but when we get the transmission done again I will switch hydraulics to Transynd.    Jeremy
