Jellystone parks...At your risk
« on: September 09, 2018, 02:45:15 AM »
Made a reservation at the Jellystone Campground in Mount Gilead, OH. They told me that cancelations <48 hrs before check-in date/time would not be eligible for refund. They also hit my credit card for total amount at the time of reservation. Wife got sick so I called them Friday AM to cancel our planned stay (Sunday 2PM – Wed evening), thinking I was outside the 48 hr limit. Then was told they don’t go by hour, but by complete days (even though policy clearly says hours) so I would have had to cancel on Thursday. Spoke to them twice but no joy.  What a ripoff, IMHO! Will avoid them in future.
Working with cc company to dispute charge.

Service like that will bite them in the butt.  That’s why I always use AmEx.  Their dispute resolution is peerless.

We agree with Mr. Tarnoff.  This past Winter, we canceled an RV park reservation on the day we were to arrive because our coach threw a U-joint on the trip from Yuma, AZ to the RV park located near Parker, AZ.  We called to cancel knowing we were canceling too late according to their park's policy.

Be that as it may be, our money was returned because we used our VISA card.

I've not had that problem with Jellystone, but another park back east charged me for a canceled reservation. My B of A visa people I think just love to hang those people out to dry. They said we'll take of it and that was that.
