Fuel Sending Unit for a 1998 Beaver Patriot
« on: September 26, 2018, 01:29:37 AM »
I tried to post this yesterday, but can not find where it actually posted so I posting it again.  Sorry if this is a duplicate post!

Does anyone know the correct fuel sending unit for a 1998 Beaver Patriot Savannah?  Make ? Part number?

My fuel gauge now reads full all the time.  I have grounded the terminals on the back of the fuel gauge and it swings to Empty.  I have also removed the wires from the fuel sending unit and jumpered them together and the gauge goes to Empty so the wires to the gauge should be good.  I know that I could just remove the fuel sending unit and take it to NAPA or someplace to match it up, but if I could order one and not have to leave the tank open on the side I would prefer to do that.

Carl,
Beaver Coach Sales parts department is where you will stand the best chance of finding the right sending unit.

In May, 2017 I bought one from Beaver Coach Sales & Service for my 2001 Patriot.  Cost was around $200.  Fortunately the sending unit is a side mount and not a top mounted unit where the fuel tank would have to be dropped for installation.

"Sender Fuel side mount 102 Gallon 1997 Magnum/Safari?  BCS2428"

In my case I did not have to have the unit installed (will save just in case it is needed in future).  The wires to the back of the gauge were loose.  I was told the wires were tightened and the gauge began to work.  On Tuesday we drove over some rough roads and the fuel gauge once again pegged above "F."  Tapped on the gauge a few time and was able to make my Transmission Temp gauge start working again.  Yesterday on the way home tapped on the fuel gauge again and it began working once again!  Now all my gauges are working.  I've depended on the Silverleaf monitor for information.

Good luck on resolving your issue.

I called Beaver Coach Sales today and they do still have them in stock. $235.00 plus shipping.  Before I ordered it I had to unscrew the dash and remove the fuel gauge wires, clean, and tighten all the connections.  It didn't fix the problem, but I had to try.  Thanks again for everyone's help.

Carl: I have a 98 Patriot Ticonderoga which is a 37' model.  I have never ever found my fuel sensor so assumed it was in from the top of the tank. What length is your model and where is your sensor?  I would appreciate knowing this. Mine works but I do all of my maintenance and would like to clean up the connections if I can find it.  On mine, if you have to drop the fuel tank to get to it, it's not a very cheap repair!    Thanks

Mine is a 33 foot model and the fuel sending unit is on the side of the tank on the Drivers side.  I believe that we have the same setup and yours should also be in the same spot.
