3116 Cat Engine

Hi everyone

So I wanted to post that since buying our old motorhome, its just about driven me to start drinking. One thing that has been wonderful is the Cat engine. Once it warms up, the engine just runs perfect, I enjoy just standing next to it and hear it run. It does not have the most HP bit, it gets us to our destinations. The transmission shifts just perfect as well. Will definitely continue to have regular engine service including fluid analysis.

Jason our 1991 Baronet always ran excellent, the 3116 had been upgraded by Caterpillar, from 215 hp to 250 hp just after the original owner purchased it. The receipt was in with the purchasing paper work. It always ran great, we had plenty of other things to keep us “busy” with an old coach. The biggest dislike with that engine was no exhaust brake, it didn’t go uphill fast but it sure wanted to go downhill fast. I had the overhead, valves and injectors adjusted when I first got it and Dave Atherton told me that it would need it again in about 350,000 more miles. We sold the Baronet a couple of years ago and bought our Marquis. Our entire family still talks about how much we liked our “little Beaver”. Enjoy Keith
