Filters for Hydraulic reservoir C- Cat
« on: June 02, 2021, 03:45:58 PM »
I am having a new Hydraulic pump installed on my 2007 42ft Contessa C-9 Cat 400 HP and I want to change the filters in the Hydraulic reservoir. There is no identification on the reservoir as to make or model. My manual refers to three filters in the reservoir, but I have no specs as to what filters to use. My reservoir measures 8.5 inches in diameter by 20 inches high. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Albert, the  3 drop in filters are Fleetguard HF 6505. We have purchased them from Cummins. The maintenance interval in our manual calls for a annual change of the filters and hydrolic fluid but wondering if that could be extended to 2 years. So far we have maintained the 12 month change prperiod for the last 14 years.

Bryan, Thank you. I am having trouble getting my hands on these filters. I will keep trying, but thank you for solving the mistery of what these filter are.

Bryan, I got the filters. What hydraulic fluid do you use? My manual calls for Texaco Rando 46.

Albert,

Check and see what color the fluid is in the reservoir. If it is somewhat clear, then you still have Rando 46 in the system. If it is red, then it is probably Dextron transmission fluid. Chevron makes a Rando 46, Texaco Rando is no longer available. Hope this helps.

Albert, we have used Dexron 111 or Mercon for the last 13 years. We did the first fluid change with Dexron because it was more widely available. Suggest as previously stated to stick with what you are currently using at this point.
