2005 Montery Front Slides Not Working

My Brother-in-law is stuck. His front slides will not come in.  Any Suggestions or tips to get them working?

His rear slides work fine.

Michael
I have a 2006 Monterey.  The front slides are only functional with the ignition switch on (I always have the engine running).  It is my understanding that Beaver did it this way because the front slides needed significant DC power to the hydraulic pump.  So, there is an interlock device (relay) somewhere that will only allow power to the pump when the ignition switch is on.  I have not had to chase down the actual location of that relay.  Hopefully someone who knows which relay it is will chime in.  I hope this helps to point you in the right direction.  Good luck.

On the 2005 PT, the ignition switch has to be Off or the slides do not work. Maybe Beaver was concerned that someone (or a switch malfunction) could accidentally run the slides out while driving.

On our 2004 Marquis, the ignition key must be OFF to run the slides in and out.  The hydraulic pump does eat a lot of power, thus, I either have the generator running or have the coach plugged into shore power when operating the slides.

Richard,
Hopefully another 06 Monte owner will comment. Having slides operate when ignition on makes little sense. Why would one want to risk having a slide open while driving. Sounds like someone did some re-wiring..... ???

I tried to comment earlier this morning, but opted to wait until I could absolutely confirm things.  We haven’t been well enough (long enough) to use Monty for over 4 years, and following recommendations I haven’t started it up.  But during a 2019 family reunion I moved several slides out so visitors could use it overnight, and I’ve “bumped” a front slide once or twice when it crept out, I could swear I didn’t have to use my keys in the ignition to do it.

I just went out, turned on the battery mains, and moved both front slides.  No ignition was required, so my elder memory functions are redeemed.

Regrettably that fact is of little use to Michael’s bro-in-law.  But perhaps his coach is like Richard’s, and either Monaco changed electrical design mid-year (that never happens ;)), or a previous owner had some reason to rewire something.  In fact, the slides should be inoperative if the engine is on, as Steve alludes to.  Not that some of us haven’t experienced a popping-open slide on the road due to a faulty solenoid.  🤭

So called HWH and they were very helpful in getting the front slides in. They instructed us to release the value of the right front slide and use the rear switch on the that side to pull it in all the way.  Also, we did this also  for the left side and we were off.

Glad you got them closed.

As info, I have a 2005 Monterey. The slides (all 4 of them) will not operate when the ignition is "on" or in the accessory position.

'05 Monterey, our slides are inoperable with ignition on. We once could not retract our DS LR slide. Someone here suggested we depress both DS BR slide switch and DS LR switch at same time (need 2 people). Worked like a charm.
