What oil is used in my chassis hydraulic system?
« on: February 11, 2022, 03:08:28 PM »
I have a 2008 Contessa with the RR8S chassis. It has the large round hydraulic oil reservoir with remote filter and gauge in the engine compartment (this powers the engine fan and power steering). I changed the filter and need to add some fluid. The fluid is a medium amber color. The manual doesn’t say what type of hydraulic oil to use.

When we bought our '04 Monterey (and there was active tech support!) it was recommended to use regular ATF or Automatic Transmission Fluid that you can get in quart bottles at any auto parts stores or even WalMart!

I put Dexron III or higher in ours.

"DEXRON is the trade name for a group of technical specifications of automatic transmission fluid (ATF) created by General Motors (GM)."
