2000 Marquis Seaward Water Heater Access

I found water leaking from the area behind the Hurricane water heater in my coach.  I suspect it is associated with the Seaward water heater but I am not sure how to access it.  It appears to be mounted behind the Hurricane unit.  Is that the case?  How do I get to it to check for the leak?

I have searched the forum and read about every post that had the words water heater in them, but I can't find any reference to what I am asking.

Jim,
Your electric water heater is mounted on a shelf directly above your Hurricane heater. You just need to remove the center stainless panel that the Hurricane control module is mounted to and the water heater will be easily accessed for service or replacement. If you have not maintained the sacrificial anode rod in the water heater tank, the aluminum water heater tank probably has a hole in it, and although the tank is replaceable, it is usually just as cheap to replace the entire water heater.

Thanks to Gerald and Steve.  I did look online at prices for the Seaward replacement and found that they are not unreasonably priced.  I will have to check further now that I know where I am looking.  I am certain that after 20 years, it needs to be replaced.  I suspect it does have a hole in it, and I will be sure that I do the required inspections and maintenance on the new unit.

By the way, I just checked the water heater and it has a drain valve, but no anode.  According to the manual, the anode replaces the drain valve.  Is this normal for the heater to not have an anode rod??

Not sure. The replacement unit bought from Rixens had the anode but I don't know that I checked the original once I found the tank leaking.

Jim,
Your water heater originally came with an anode, but many of the replacement heaters do not. There is also the possibility that the anode was removed to install a drain valve because almost everyone who winterizes a system with that heater will drain the heater to cut down on the amount of antifreeze needed, especially if there is a water heater bypass installed in the system.
