Coolant recovery tank for '03 Beaver/Cummins
« on: August 14, 2012, 05:31:32 PM »
Hello all,
We have an '03 Beaver Monterey with the Cummins 350 ILC.  Our plastic recovery tank has developed a leak and Monaco no longer offers the OEM part.  Any suggestionsk for a replacement?
Thanks in advance,
Scott Ramsey

BCS in Bend should have the ability to get the part or a source for a replacement. I would try them and see. Post a photo of your tank if they do not have access to one and other users may have found a source.

We have the same engine.  I think I remember that Beaver used some Ford truck coolant tanks.  If you see a part number, you might try Ford.

The coolant/surge tank in my '98 was a Ford truck part.  Local dealer had it in stock at about $125.

Roger that on the Ford part.  I have contacted Beaver Coach Sales in Bend, but before I order I will pull the bottle and check with my local Ford dealer.  THANKS TO ALL!!  Oh, I will post the Ford part number just in case anyone else needs it.

Well it wasn't the Ford bottle.  Here is the part number from Beaver Coach Sales:  01806583.  $350.95 plus an hour labor.  Oh well, it doesn't leak that top gallon of coolant anymore so I am happy :-)

Scott,
You might call Northwest RV Supply in Eugene Oregon. They bought all of the surplus parts from Navistar when the Monaco production was moved from Oregon to Indiana, so they may have one at a better price.

Gerald,
just had the Mexican green stuff flushed out of the C12 after our big leak and new CAT ELC coolant put in.
The overflow reservoir has a crack in it. I believe we have a Ford part here........would you happen to know the part number ??
Could I substitute an ordinary square bottle and attach it to the wall where the washer bottle is for the rear view camera??

Jeremy,
The information for your surge tank is covered in the thread;  http://forum.bacrallies.com/m-1265574499/s-0/highlight-marquis+tank/#num0

Replacing the tank with another design tank will be very difficult because of the number of hoses that connect to the tank, as well as the pressure cap that is necessary for the tank.

We have a local radiator shop that has one of the best welders I have ever seen. He offered to make me one out of metal with a sight glass like the Gilig Chassis on our 1991 Baronett had on it. They make some amazing things. We are going to do that if ours fails.
