Has anyone had any experience in adjusting the height of the slideout (one side is lower than the other)

Tom,

Yes, it is not a pretty job and could be very disappointing at best.  In my case, the rear end of the bottom corner of my LR slide was flush when new.  However, it became lower after about 6 months.  Beaver Services Center in Wildwood adjusted it under warranty but again it came down after about 3 months.  I took it back and they did a whole lot of adjustments inside and outside.  Again the thing. lowered itself to that 1/2 inch lower in the rear as compared to the front.  Well to make a very long story short.  It has been in that lowered position for 11 years, 80,000miles, 5-6 months a year on the road with no problems and has never leaked water during 2 hurricanes and a tornado. There may be a simple answer to this problem, but so far nobody has shared that with me.

Good luck,

Tom,
On a 99 it is usually a roller problem or the roller has sunken into the floor that it supports. You will need to investigate the slide supports to determine the problem before attempting any repairs. It will not be a simple adjustment.

On out 06 we had a problem on the front passenger slide, it turned out to be a failure of the slide upper tubing. The bolts pulled through the tube and the slide dropped.
$7500. repair at BCS lucky we had a warranty.

Tom,
With slide extended, check (per Gerald) to see if the under side of the slide on the low side has a roller that has indented or cracked the underside of the floor. If so. fix is to lift the slide (farm./high lift jacks) and insert a metal plate 3/16 or 1/4" for the rollers to run on. I had to install this fix on my Contessa a few years ago.

Hi Gang,

I haven't posted for a long time, I guess most of the quirks are under control - it sure is fun to work on these when I have the time to get there.

RE: The slide situation, I was OK living with the slide drop as it was. The rear of the slide has recently dropped
another 3/8" +/- ,over time that is. Driving through CT,NY,NJ especially the GW Bridge has rattled teeth every trip through.

I left the drop alone but feel that if there is a way to adjust, new rollers or a wrench on the underside of the slide, now would be a good time to get that done.

My Question is: Is there a way that anyone has found to raise the slide on a 1999 Monterey Redondo (with rollers)? There also seems to be some threaded rod and/or mount where I can add spacers. If raising the slide and inserting a plate is reasonable - I could also do that too.

I have to leave this one to the experts - as there are quite a few on this forum - because I don't want to make the situation worse and hope to solve it with your help.

As always,

Thank You All

Tom,
As I stated earlier, there is no simple adjustment for slide alignment. First, you need to determine why the slide is out of align, and repair that problem. If the rollers are wearing into the slide floor, installing a metal plate on the bottom of the slide floor of the necessary thickness is the cure. If not you may need to shim or replace rollers, but if you do not have a water leak now, you probably will after a significant slide adjustment. So you may be looking at new slide seals also in your repair.
