Penguin AC squeal

Our front A/C (Penguin 15,000 BTU) on our 2007 Contessa decided to start squealing yesterday. It comes and goes. Changing fan speeds seems to have no effect. Sounds exactly like a fan belt squeal on an automobile. Question. Is there a belt on these? Could this be a bearing and a sign of bad things to come? Might it be something I can look at and maybe lubricate something?

I am open to all ideas.

Thanks Ken

Ken sorry to say but you are looking at a fan motor failure. It is possible you could have a fan rubbing the shroud. The fan motor is double ended. You will have to remove the cover on unit and put your fan manual to observe operation. The fan bracket could have come loose allowing the motor to shift.
